The medication education service as described in the MHCP Manual here educates a member about:
Medication education is coordinated with, but not duplicative of, medication management services. The member must be present to bill for the service.
Criteria for medication education are as follows:
Any individual who is eligibile for ARMHS is eligible for ARMHS Medication Education, whether or not the Diagnostic Assessment has identified this as a specific need. Subsequent Functional or Health and Wellness Assessments, Progress Reviews, or other sources of information may uncover the need for medication education.
Any provider who identifies that an individual who is eligible for ARMHS has a need for Medication Education services should make a referral for this service and follow through to see that the individual is connected with the registered nurse for Medication Education. The individual need not be receiving other ARMHS services at the time, but must be eligible for ARMHS based on a recent Diagnostic and Functional Assessment.
Medication Education requires a treatment objective describing the goals, desired outcomes, methods, frequency and duration, and provider for the service.
The Medication Education Treatment Objective may be developed and approved without an update to the current ARMHS Treatment Plan. Document in the methods section of the objective that the individual has consented to the addition of this treatment objective, and the date of that consent.
