Annual and Advanced Training




Welcome!

Competencies are also never limited to what you find here. If you find a training class or course that will further your career goals, please submit a proposal. It should substantially align with your current career plan goals and objectives, and if it does, we will work with you to define the competencies you will obtain from it.

Annual Refresher Training

After completion of the initial training period, all staff who provide client services are asked to complete refresher training annually in the topics listed in the table below. The purpose of these refreshers is not that you put the policies and procedure to memory, rather these brief trainings designed with the intention of:

You will take a quiz (or complete a return demonstration) for each of these refreshers. These quizzes are open book. To complete the training:

  1. Open the guide link to the policy below. Read through it.
  2. In an second browser tab, log in to Tabs and navigate to Annual Training, then open the quiz with the topic name below.
  3. Find the answers to the quiz quesions in the guide.
  4. Tap to score your quiz. Once you achieve a passing score, you may approve the quiz yourself.
  5. Document your time using the service type: "Annual Required Training" and list in the note which training you completed. (These trainings are designed to be completed in 30 minutes or less.)

Employees in the Training Period

New employees monthly trainings scheduled in those first four months (months that overlap with the 90-day traning periond, but should begin immediatley completing referesher training in the first month following completion of 90 days of employment.

Core Competencies

Core competencies are required to advance using Competency-Based Training. Core competencies include, but are not limited to:

All staff must be meeting core for their position in order to qualify for competency-based pay increases, as defined in the Career Development and Performance Management Guide.



Advanced Competencies

This section desribes available Advanced competency-based training. These might apply to one or more services, and the applicable services will be listed in the header information for each.

Advanced training courses are available for any staff member in any position who has successfully completed their orientation/probationary training requirements and is in good standing (not currently working under a Performance Intervention Plan).

Competencies based on completion of training will be awarded a commensurate pay increase at the start of the next quarter to anyone who completes the training and return demonstration, and who is meeting core at the time of completion.

*Your request to attend the training must be approved by your Program Manager.

If no prerequisite is identified for a specific training, there is none. Where identified, please notice.

Numerous short self-paced trainings on a wide variety of topics. Ask for short-term access, explore them, and then request permission to complete a training. Competencies are  5 per hour (as determined by Relias' estimation of class time).

There are literally hundreds of Relias options, most 1-1.5 hours in duration. These include topics such as (nowhere near and all-inclusive list):

Website: accend.training.reliaslearning.com. For a password to access Accend's Relias account, ask your Manager. Then search the course catalog. One of the best ways to filter the thousands of search options is by "Profession: Social Work Professionals". Try other filters if you wish.

After finding a training that addresses goals and objectives in your Career Plan request to complete a specific training of your choosing. We may opt to vet the content of the training before you are given permission to proceed and may propose an alternative.

Repeating/Refresher Training

Do not ask for additional competencies to repeat previous training you have already completed. If you feel you need a refresher, ask for access and review the training, but you wil recieve competencies only once for completing a specific topic.
