Please work with your administrative supervisor to create a career plan that identifies new skills you would like to develop (with target dates). These skills may be selected from an approved best practice or resource, or you may propose a new modality or resource for approval. With your administrative supervisor, identify potential sources of training for the identified competencies.

Both the Coping Series and the Mental Health Life Series contain a series of workbooks that include self-assessment, exercises, journaling and educational handouts spanning across the domains of Mental Health, Health, Home, Connection, and Purpose. Each assessment includes directions for easy administration, scoring, and interpretation. The scales provided for each section will help capture a client’s baseline and measure progress on treatment effectiveness.
In the classroom you will learn how to earn competencies for each of the series, get an introduction of the titles in each series, how to identify potential resources using the Functional Assessment, and how to apply the resources in treatment planning and Progress Reviews.

Learn how to track current eating habits and create new healthy eating routines for positive health outcomes.

Become a certified MNSure Navigator! Navigators provide individuals and families with free assistance to help them achieve successful enrollments into health coverage through the MNSure marketplace. This is an online training, including a knowledge assessment for certification and demonstration of competencies.

Observation and direction entails monitoring data, making program and protocol modifications and upgrades, training in new staff, and providing feedback to staff. The O&D training is offered in two parts, protocol modification, and staff feedback.

Family Skills training entails partnering with parents and caregivers to help them learn how to use the tools and techniques we employ to help our clients learn new skills. The caregiver training curriculum includes instruction on how to identify reinforcers, interpret behaviors, respond to behaviors, and teach daily living skills.

Required for All Adult Service Staff
This three-hour online training that discusses smoking cessation strategies with mental health providers, and other providers, to address smoking stigma and encourage change. To accomplish this goal NAMI Minnesota constructed a diverse advisory committee to gain perspectives from a range of individuals consisting of a Psychiatrist, Public Health Nurses, Social Workers, and other mental health and tobacco service providers. NAMI’s online training allows providers to learn motivational interviewing techniques and test their knowledge and skills using interactive activities. This online training helps individuals have practical experience and highlights the perspectives of individuals who are living with a mental illness and their journey towards smoking cessation.

This training is REQUIRED for all Adult Service staff. Because this is a mandatory training, these competencies do not need to be identified in your current career plan to put these towards a competency-based pay increase.
YOU DO NOT have to be a current or previous smoker to complete this training. This is a learning tool to teach our clients if they have identified wanting to quit smoking.

This interactive online training will provide education about nicotine addiction, special considerations for individuals living with a mental illness, and motivational interviewing techniques, along with other skills to help professionals addressing smoking cessation as part of a wellness plan. Provides 3 CEUs upon completion.
Required for All EIDBI Staff
A new requirement from DHS, this course will explore culturally appropriate response techniques for those working with clients with ASD. To access this training, log in to your TrainLink. (You may have to find your Unique Key HERE.)
After logging in, select "Find a Course". Search "ASDCULTURE" in the search box. The course "Cultural Responsiveness in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Services" should populate. Click "Select" on left of course name. Click "Start course" on top right of screen, under your name.
