Qualifications for Certain Positions
Mental Health Practitioner
A Mental Health Practioner typically has:
- A Bachelor's Degree and 2000 hours of experience in mental health services
- A Bachelor's Degree that included an internship in mental health services
- 4000 hours of experience in mental health services
Mental Health Worker
A Mental Health Worker typically has:
- Two years of full-time postsecondary education or a two-year degree in behavioral health and sciences or related fields
- 10 years of personal life experience with mental illness or a caregiver to a person with mental illness
Case Managers (all types)

Peer Specialists
Peer Specialists have personal life experience with mental illness or a caregiver to a person with mental illness and special training provided by the State of Minnesota.
